For anyone who does not know what a Jackal is, here is their wiki: [link]

I don't know where I got the name "Kek" from. According to the halo wiki, however, the name is appropriate for their language. And it kept popping into my head, so *shrugs*

Anyway, this is my jackal costume which took about 8 months to make. I finally finished this beast, and displayed it at Anime Central in Rosemont, Illinois. Sadly, I did not win any contests, but I had a lot of people boost my ego with compliments. I also had one person go, "JACKAL! It's a JACKAL! A JACKAL! Is it a JACKAL? JACKAL!" which made my day.

The armor is made out of cardboard sealed with paper tape. The skin is fabric, airbrushed for detail and with some areas speckled with liquid latex. The mask is a cardboard base with clay and liquid latex. The stilts have a wooden base and are cardboard, fabric and stuffing.

The jaw is hinged to move with my mouth, and I have digitigrade stilts to make my legs look more jackal-like. The stilts' toes bend when I walk. Also, the shield lights up with LEDs. I have a plasma pistol which wasn't included in most shots as I did not make it, but I did detail it to look more old and worn. His armor is detailed to look scratched, rusted, covered in dirt and grime. He also has some scars on his arms, a massive bullet wound in one shoulder, and a slash on the side of his head.

It would also be nice if the shield could retract to simulate the shield getting overheated when exposed to a melee attack, although that would probably be pretty tricky to make.
