My art style ranges from fantasy to dark art. I do not do realism. Visit my gallery for examples of my work. My preferred media are pen and ink and markers, but I am willing to try some other media.

Longboards:
My first painted longboard deck really gave me insight into the best way of doing things.
Example: [link]

Prices are variable since it really depends on what kind of deck you want. Standard boards would be pintails, since that's the most easily-accessible blank deck I can get my hands on.

If you want something other than a pintail, I am available for consultation via email or phone (send me a note for the number/address). Depending on what I can find online to purchase will affect what price you will pay. I can also paint a board you already like, if you want to do that instead. I'm not sure how long it will take to paint the boards, but my last one took a few days to design, a week or so to paint and a few days to lacquer, finish and assemble. Also, keep in mind if I order a board you can specify expedited shipping, but you will pay more as a result to cover that cost.

Also, if you want me to buy trucks/risers/wheels for it, that will also affect the price. You will get a fully-assembled board (assembly is free) and grip tape is free as well. You get full control on what design you want, and I will show you the first concept design and 2 revisions can be made. Boards are lacquered with a glossy finish (clear like glass) to ensure the designs last a long time. The thickness of the lacquer will not allow for a very flexible board, however, so if flexibility is your thing be fore-warned. You could opt for a thinner-type finish, but I can't guarantee it will last as long.
Shipping costs will be however much it costs to send the board to you.

For the most part this is how prices will look though (for basic pintails):
$55-100+ depending on complexity of design

Jackets/clothing:
Example: [link]

I can paint (using fabric paint) onto any clothing. Jackets would work best since I know the paint is rain-resistant after 72 hours, but I'm not sure if it can go through the wash.

Detailing: Small-Medium sized details or images: $10-25 depending on complexity.

Full Design: $25-75 depending on the work intensity/complexity of the design
You will need to supply the article of clothing as I have no clothing-making skills!

Other painting:

I am very limited in painting experience but will give it a shot it need be.
Example: [link]

15"x20": $35-50, depending on complexity.

Murals: Depends. Send me a note.

Other Works:

Editing Yes, I am offering editing. I'm an English major and soon to be an English teacher. Give me your work and I will edit/proofread it and provide detailed constructive criticism.

$2.50 per page for under 10 pages
10-25 pages: $30
26-50 pages: $50
Book revision: Depends on the size of the book

As far as I’ve seen this is pretty cheap for editing. Let me know if you see somewhere else that is cheaper and I will work with you on the pricing.

UPDATE--(kinda like unsolved mysteries)

Thu May 28, 2009, 2:57 PM
  • Mood: Happy
  • Listening to: my bird being loud in my ear
This update is like unsolved mysteries because something awesome was unveiled and there is a happy ending.

Whilst working on a How-To-Draw book I will soon publish, I've been scouring dA for inspiration for a segment in the book called "How NOT to draw wings." I stumbled across a really helpful tutorial in the process. Graciously, I must admit something.

I'm wrong.

It seems in my quest to master bird wing anatomy I've seriously neglected my bat-type or dragon wing anatomy. That's right. I'm at fault for doing what I yell at people all the time for doing: drawing crappy wings.

What have I learned?

Take a look at my most recent drawing of a dragon with leathery bat-like wings:

[link]

Look at those wings. I thought there wasn't anything wrong with the wings but now I have been shown the light. It's so obvious I'm ashamed that I didn't realize it before! On the elbow of the wing I have an extra "finger" where the wing membrane attaches. Why have I drawn it there? Well I always see dragons with those there and it just looks natural. But as this lovely tutorial points out ( [link] ) there is no evolutionary reason for that extra finger, as fingers do not sprout from our elbows. It's SO OBVIOUS! Once someone pointed that tiny bone detail to me I realized the error in my ways. Of COURSE! How silly of me.

And so in the future you will see no more extra finger thingie.

Silly Random. Fingers are for hands.

Onwards! To spread this new found obvious knowledge to other unacquainted artists!

(mostly I am announcing it here so someone doesn't later point out to me that I am a hypocrite. Pre-emptive wrongness, you've done it again! Haha!)

HALOWEEN 2009!!!!!

Sun May 10, 2009, 11:56 PM
  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: Rat in a Cage
  • Watching: Youtube instructional vids
  • Drinking: Heartburn flavored saliva
So I've finally decided on next year's halo-themed halloween costume. I'm going to go as a Jackal.

For those of you unfamiliar with me, last halloween I went as a grunt, a revamp of my older costume made in high school. And it ROCKED. [link] There's a pic, so you know how awesome it was.

This year, I had trouble deciding between a hunter, the arbiter, and a jackal. (I will get around to all of them, don't worry.) I've decided I'm gonna go with the Jackal, because I want to work with feathers and more textures to improve upon my experience.

Here's a good picture of a Jackal if you haven't played the Halo games: [link]

Yeah. Pretty awesome.

I'm working on figuring out how to construct the legs, but I have a good idea, I just need help and materials and structurally-sound awesomeness which I think I will get from my dad. (if not, my stepdad, since him and mom don't care about driving).

As far as how I'll make the shield, I may have to ask my brother on how to do that.

But the main costume I am already thinking up ideas.

First of all, the armor is a cinch--I'll make it out of cardboard like last year's grunt's armor was (and paint it awesomely as well). The head is gonna be perhaps the most fun part of it. I've been scouring youtube for ideas and have come up with a few different options, some involving epoxy, some plaster...And then I'm using feathers and some liquid latex since that worked last time. I'll probably use a skin cap again and texture it like skin. It's gonna be a LOT of fun. I wanna get a working jaw, too. It's GONNA LOOK FREAKING AMAZING.

You just wait, world. Another Halo creation is gonna be unleashed in Madison.

I'm already practicing my Jackal sounds.

:D :D :D

A NOTICE TO ALL

Mon Apr 13, 2009, 10:10 AM
  • Mood: Mad
  • Eating: An invisible bagel
  • Drinking: Invisible milk
I just got through telling someone that they are not allowed to use my designs for tattoos.

This message goes out to all who watch me and all who stumble across my page:

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE MY ARTWORK FOR ANY PERSONAL USE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.

End of story.

You are not allowed to make derivative works of it, either, meaning you can't take the design and copy features of it, or change it slightly to your whim in order to "make it yours". The fact of the matter is, it will NEVER be yours because MY mind and MY hard work and MY creative process created it. No amount of altering will change that.

You are not allowed to take my line art or ink art or any art for personal use for tattoos, covers, anything. You can't. You simply can't. That is ART THEFT and that is against the law. Copyright law, that is.

Despite it being against the law, it also has moral issues as well. Say you take an artist's work, be it my own, or anyone else's. Say you bring it to a tattoo parlor and they tattoo it on you. You might think I or the other artists will never see it and therefore I can never find out that you stole it. Well that may be the case. But can you control the actions of the tattoo artist? Maybe that tattoo becomes a hit and he starts making it for other people. Can you see how this might be a problem? That tattoo artist is making money off of someone else's idea. That is theft, whether they know it or not. You have just made them liable.

The other moral issues are that artists put their own personal ideas to their works--some artwork may have personal meaning and significance to them and them alone, and would never apply to anyone else in possession of the work. That is because an artist's work is like a piece of their soul. They put hard work into it, their mind, their sweat, their strain and their time in order to bring their ideas to fruition.

DO NOT STEAL ART. I don't care if you think you are "borrowing" it. Or "getting ideas" from it. No. NO. IF you feel like you must, you had BETTER ask permission for it first, and accept a possibility that the artist may not want you doing these things.

If the artwork is usable for derivative works, creative commons, aka it is available for use by other people in some way, IT WILL BE LISTED AS SUCH with a text under the work that says "creative commons license" or something of the sort. You can even click on the thing and I believe it tells you what the restrictions are. You will notice that my artwork does not allow for ANY creative commons use. Why? Because it is my work for my own use, and the only reason it is on this site is because I like showing it to people, including prospective customers for commissions.

NOW.

If anyone wants a tattoo design, send me a note or comment on my page/journal and I will be happy to offer you a commission work that will require money, but that is how art works. Art is the creative result of putting an artist's mind and hard work onto paper(or other media). It is our SOUL and OUR HARD WORK, and if you REALLY appreciated art like you claim to do by taking ours, you would understand the moral issues you create by doing so. You would understand that stealing art is stealing and defiling someone's soul, and you would leave well enough alone and ask permission (and consequently accept no as an answer), ask for a commission, or make your own damn work.

Because every artist, every true, creative artist who does not steal from others (for they are not artists), knows that their art takes a LOT of skill and hard work and would never, NEVER take art theft lightly.

Ever.
