Yes those are man-parts. And saggy grandma boobs. I'm slowly getting over my fear of drawing genatalia.
Basically this avatar represents a lot of things I've been thinking about lately, most of them having to do with sexuality-related issues. Mostly, it's about how I hate being female.
This picture SCREAMS feminism, but really, it's more self-directed misogyny than anything. (My stance on feminism: To each his own--you believe what you want, but personally, I am NOT a feminist. I don't want to get into detail about my beliefs, because I don't want people getting on my case about shit--I'd rather post this pic and be done with it. Thank you.)
Now, due to how personal this pic is to me, I'm not about to explain all the symbolism in it, but will give the translation of the latin on her blindfold, which is "Amor caesus est" or "Love is blind".
I actually finished this pic waaaay before I drew the other ones I've posted recently, but it was rather big so I had to take the time to scan it/piece it together.
I tried a new method in masking airbrush ink--rubber cement! It works fantastically, although this was on illustration board and my guess is that on regular printer paper it won't work so well, but, regardless, it was fun.
And yet again I am only half-pleased with how this turned out. The figure itself I liked, but the background...eh...whatever. I had another go at using windex, which is always fun, and the masking with the cement helped create some of the background as well. Practice makes perfect I guess.
I mean, by it's own its a very powerful image, but along with the reasons for you doing it, it's really quite a masterpiece!
And I hear you about the feminism thing. I'm only a smidgeon feminist, but I'm not one of the kinds that's like "YOU HAVE TO LOVE WOMEN AND THEY ARE AMAZING BE A FEMINIST EMBRACE YOUR VAGINA BWAAAAAA!!!"
Really love this piece.

Wow, another creepy yet interesting creature, with a tortured-looking design... You're really good at that. And I like the background, personally. I think it looks nifty!

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and *Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
