I Wasn't Thinking

Character: "You gotta commit."
Charlie: "Then I'll commit...suicide!"
Character: *facepalm*

^Somehow I want to incorporate the above pun into my comic. It makes me lol.

This piece is of Charlie. He is pretty angsty-looking in this pic. In my story, I have decided to make him less angsty, and more outwardly upbeat/sociable/awesome. However, he does have some bad goings on in his head.

If you are wondering about his neck, it has a reddish bruise around it, because this is him sitting in front of a cliche sunset while contemplating having attempted suicide (via strangulation/noose/I can't decide) earlier. But he botched it and reality smacked him in the face. Derp derp Charlie derp.

Before Critiquing!

Please be gentle. This was a practice piece, I was trying to experiment with colors to work on my lighting skills. I am not very good at them yet.

Things weren't looking right (as I didn't have the best markers; if I had only copics I would squee) so I tried a different way of bringing the colors together. I kind of made it grainy-looking with the line-age but it did manage to integrate the colors better.

Also my scanner washed all the yellow out of this piece, so I had to try to fix it in photoshop. But it still doesn't look like real life, so, whaddaya gonna do?

I am sort of pleased with this. It's certainly a step in the right direction.

As far as other errors go, I realized I messed up on the mohawk after I inked it...and after realizing I had a mohawk wig on the skull on my desk that I could have referenced. Oh well.
