Figure of Speech

First painting for Color Theory class. Our assignment was to paint a composition utilizing colors with various values, and to show these values with their corresponding grayscales adjacent to them.

That...doesn't really explain it well enough.

Basically, some parts had to be in color, and some had to be in gray, but where they were gray they had to match the color's value. Erm. Whatever. I give up. I hope it makes sense.

Anyway, that's what I did here.


I decided also that doing an abstract or random painting was going to be boring, so I painted a picture with personal meaning. All I am permitted to say is that it has to do with censorship.





For the record, I hate painting. I do not have much experience with it; it seems to be more trouble than it's worth.
